Twitter Beta-Testing Way to Attach Ads to Tweets in Third-Party Apps
Twitter is beta-testing a way for advertisers to attach ads to tweets that show up in applications outside of Twitter and its owned apps.
Senior product manager Mollie Vandor announced in a blog post that the social network is beta-testing a way for brands to display ads from its MoPub ad-serving solution directly via Twitter Kit timelines for Android and iOS applications.
Vandor added that all ad rendering is handled automatically, and ads match the themes and color preferences in Twitter Kit so they will display properly within apps. She wrote:
By integrating our Twitter Kit and MoPub software-development kits, we've made it easy for you to plug your app into the world's conversations and one of the world's largest mobile ad exchanges at the same time. Now, with just a few lines of code, you can engage your users with a dynamic timeline of tweets and build your business with native MoPub ads that fit seamlessly into the stories you want to tell.
This doesn't just open up a new canvas for you to monetize: We've also taken care of all the ad rendering, so you don't have to worry about performance or how to display the ads. Plus, we've made sure that ads match the theming and color preferences you set in Twitter Kit, so they fit the look and feel of your app.
Getting started with this beta integration is easy: Simply set up a native ad unit in MoPub, paste the ID into Twitter Kit and let us handle the rest.
Advertisers: What are your initial thoughts on this beta-test?

44 books on 44 presidents: The impeachment of a Jerk-in-Chief
Editor's note: This is the seventeenth entry in the writer's year-long project to read one book about each of the U.S. Presidents by Election Day 2016. You can also follow Marcus' progress at the @44in52 Twitter account and with this 44 in 52 Spreadsheet.
I really have a way of getting ahead of myself.
Case in point: Just two books ago, I implied that James Buchanan was the worst president ever. That was before I read about Andrew Johnson.
Case in point number two: In my last entry, on Abraham Lincoln, I waxed lyrical about change. But the change Lincoln brought was a gentle breeze compared to Hurricane Andrew Johnson, who had all the grace of a drunken spider monkey in taking over the White House after Lincoln's assassination.
